Our Mandate
Vision
A solution-focused public sector through innovation.
Mission
To entrench a culture and practice of innovation in the public sector to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the public service and its service delivery to the public.
Constitutional and Legislative Mandate
The CPSI operates under the principles set out in Chapter 10, s195 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, particularly:
- Efficient, economic, and effective use of resources
- Development-oriented public administration
- Responsive service delivery that meets people's needs
- Transparency and citizen participation
The CPSI's functions are outlined in Government Notice 700 of 2 September 2011, including:
- Advancing needs-driven research and development
- Unearthing, demonstrating, sharing, encouraging, and rewarding innovation
- Testing, piloting, and incubating new innovations
- Supporting replication of innovative solutions
