Xolani Phakathi Scoops a Departmental Award for contributing to Public Sector Innovation

KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health’s Assistive Device Management System, wins Best Public Service Implemented Programme or Project of the Year: (2nd Position) Assistive Devices Electronic Management System (ADEMS) at the KwaZulu-Natal Health MEC’s Annual Service Excellence Awards (MASEA), which took place in Durban ICC on Friday, 01 June 2018.
Xolani Phakathi received a Special Recognition Award for contributions in the ICT Sector for the Public Service, in recognition of the accolade from the 2017 Public Sector Innovation Awards coordinated by the Centre for Public Service Innovation.
The electronic Assistive Device Management System is an innovation developed by Mr Phakathi using trial software which has saved the department millions of Rands in software installation and licensing costs. Xolani is a Public Sector Innovation trailblazer – a new breed of public servants as the public sector responds to the 4th Industrial Revolution.
